Garlic Crouton Chicken Parmesan

Anything Italian makes me happy :). I never make true chicken parmesan because it always sounds difficult to make so I love when I come across a version that is so simple but tastes like chicken parmesan you would get in a restaurant. This recipe fit the bill for that. It was simple but tasted so delicious. My aunt shared this recipe with me last weekend and I knew I had to make it immediately.

Garlic Crouton Parm Chicken-2

Ingredients:
-Olive Oil (to coat pan)
-3 Chicken Breasts
-1 large marinara sauce
-Mozzarella cheese
-1 bag Garlic Croutons
-Fresh Basil
-2 garlic cloves
-Salt and Pepper

Directions:
1. Pour olive oil into a 9×13 pan to coat the bottom thinly
2. Add 2 garlic cloves, minced and salt and pepper
3. Pound chicken breasts and place in pan
4. Cover chicken in marinara sauce to your desired amount
5. Place garlic croutons on top of marinara
6. Sprinkle with fresh chopped basil
7. Cover in mozzarella cheese to your desired amount
8. Re-sauce and then Re-cheese
9. Bake for 30 minutes at 350

Garlic Crouton Parm Chicken-1

The croutons cooked so well and created a delicious breaded taste to the chicken. It was so delicious. We served it over egg noodles. It tasted like we had taken the time to bread the chicken but instead we had done this very simple version and it was delicious.

The croutons are such a smart shortcut. One of the things I dread doing in the kitchen is breading meat. I don’t know why, but I despise it. This is going to save me so much time and it looks absolutely amazing and restaurant quality. I think I’m going to serve over egg noodles as well.

I just made chicken Parmesan in the crock pot this week. Super easy. Breaded the chicken with bread crumbs, topped it with marinara sauce, and then let if cook on low for 4-6 hours. Topped with cheese the last 20 minutes. Pretty good for not having to be in the kitchen all evening!

Wow! I’m pinning this now! I’m a sucker for any great kitchen shortcuts, and this one is great. I don’t know why, but I’ve never thought of using croutons before. This will be going on my to-make menu this month for sure. I’ll also be passing it on to my sister in college, I bet she’ll appreciate an easy recipe too πŸ™‚

What an easy recipe! I battle PCOS so I have to keep my carbs low. I would make my own croutons with some Rye bread because it is Low GI. Thanks for the inspiration. I am going to have to try this and write up a post on YUMeating. I love easy peasy recipes!

Um, this is absolutely amazing! I have tons of bags of croutons I got for free and I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them all! I’ve been waiting to top soups with them, but lets face it, its not soup weather quite yet! And, of course, we love chicken parm in this house but Im with you…sometimes I am not in the mood to spend all that time in the kitchen. I can’t wait to make this! Pinning!!!!

That recipe looks SO delicious! The use of crutons instead of breading is pretty ingenuis. Like you, I love anything Italian (and ANYTHING with tomato in it) so this will definitely move into my rotation. I have a Vitamix and one of the things the manufacturer touts is the ability to make your own bread crumbs and crutons. I’m thinking a variation of this with bread crumbs would also work. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!
