One of the things I worry about most when we leave home is leaving our puppy dog in the dark. When we are away for an extended period of time and I’m having someone look in on her I want there to be a light on at night. But I don’t like leaving one on all day too and wasting that energy. My husband had been telling me about these new smart bulbs that we could turn on with our phones. Well life just got a little bit easier and we Feel Safer with Wifi Light Bulbs from GE.

We headed out to Home Depot to pick up our GE LED Link bulb with the Wink Hub. The way it works is you set up this Wink Hub in your house somewhere and then install your light bulbs where you’d like to be able to control your lights. The next step is downloading the Wink app onto your phone. Next, you set up the Wink Hub, and that was super easy! You only need to know your wifi network name and password ahead of time. You plug in the Wink, connect it to your phone via bluetooth, then enter the wifi information into the information boxes as you are prompted.

You will then add the individual items to your Hub with the app. In our case, we only had the 1 GE LED Link bulb to add. There is a very handy feature, that I’m sure we will use in the future, that allows you to name the different bulbs. For instance, you can have “bedroom lamp” and “living room”, instead of light 1 and light 2.

Once you connect your different devices to your Hub with the app, they are controllable from your phone! (Note: our Hub required an update once we connected it to the wifi before it would operate the light bulb from the phone, but after a 5 minute update, it worked great!). Now whenever we are out at dinner or over at friends, and remember that our dog Dolly would probably appreciate some light, its as simple as pulling out our phone, opening the app, and hitting the “on” button!

I love how easy this system is to set up and to use in your house. It helps me feel better about being away from home and leaving our puppy dog alone. Now we can turn on the lights and have the house lit up for us when we return home as well. Have you tried out wifi light bulbs? We have a giveaway for you right now and you could enter to win your own GE Lighting Kit! This kit will include 1 GE Link LED Bulb (size A19-normal general purpose size, $15 value) and 1 Wink hub ($54 value). The kit will also include additional information on the bulb and set up.

i love this idea – we wouldn’t have to leave a kitchen light on if we aren’t home.

we would use this in our living room so the light would be visible throughout the front of the house.

How cool! I’d use it in my livingroom. So I wouldn’t bump my knee coming down the stairs!

Whenever we stay out later than planned we always think “Aww poor Daisy is home in the dark!” This is such an awesome product for many reasons, but I love knowing that Daisy (and Dolly) wont be left in the dark! #client
