Planning a trip to Atlanta? This Atlanta Travel Guide will help you find the best tourist attractions and places to eat!
When you grow up somewhere you don’t really see it as a travel destination. I lived in a suburb south of Atlanta in high school and then went to college north of the city. Now that I’m in Tennessee I think of Atlanta more as a destination to visit because there is a lot I’ve actually never done. But since we have family all over Atlanta we don’t get there a lot for sight seeing but there is some stuff I’d love to do there and some that I’ve done and is a lot of fun! That’s why I wanted to put together this Atlanta Travel Guide for you!
Attractions:
Georgia Aquarium– This one is high on my list. I’ve yet to get to the aquarium yet but I really want to. I love visiting aquariums and know the Georgia Aquarium is supposed to be so great.
World of Coca Cola– This is a really fun experience. Now I don’t drink any kind of soda but if you do it’s really cool because you can sample all different kinds of soda from all over the world.
CNN Center– If you want to learn all about the news and how everything works this is a great thing to do in Atlanta. You get to do a fun studio tour and this is the global headquarters of CNN so it’s a cool place to visit!
High Museum of Art– If art is your thing then you’ll want to visit the High Museum of Art. They always have different exhibits going on and it’s on my list of places to visit.
Georgia Tech’s Campus– I may be prejudice because my dad went to Tech and we’re big Tech fans but it’s a cool campus to see and pretty cool because it’s a college in downtown Atlanta.
Fox Theatre– Be sure to check out what show’s are playing when you’re in town and make a visit to the Fox theatre!
Centennial Olympic Park– So you remember when the Olympics were in Atlanta right? We got cable especially for the event! So be sure to visit the Centennial Olympic Park that honors that event!
Places to Eat:
The Varsity– What’ll ya have? What’ll ya have? You can’t come to Atlanta and not visit the Varsity. Yes it’s complete greasy goodness but you just have to say you’ve tried it out!
Mary Mac’s Tea Room– You’re in the south so you need to indulge in delicious southern cooking at Mary Mac’s!
Chick-fil-A Dwarf House– Be sure to stop by the original Chick-fil-a while you’re in Atlanta! They have more than your typical Chick-fil-a and it’s delicious!
OK Cafe– Another delicious spot with some good home cooking! Be sure to check this one out!
Sun Dial Restaurant– This place fascinated me as a kid and it’s pretty cool. You’re basically spinning (very slowly not in a sickly way) around Atlanta and you’re 72 stories high so you have amazing views of the city!
These are just a few of the top places to hit in Atlanta. If you’ve traveled there or live there I’d love to hear your favorite spots?

I have lived in Atlanta my whole life (except when I went to college), and there is SO much to do here that you don’t think about if you are live here. I’ve only been to Mary Mac’s once (it was amazing) and rarely go to the High Museum. Isn’t that crazy? We need to get out more!

I love Atlanta! City pass is a great thing to purchase. It allows you to visit the top attractions for a fraction of the price.
