Have some short trips coming up? Check out these tips on How to Pack for a Short Trip!

This month I am going on several short trips, and being one that usually gets stressed out about packing and completely overpacks, I decided this time around to be more organized about my packing. During this process I have found a few helpful tips for how to pack for a short trip.

1. Make a list of everything you think you will need

I have been terrible at this in the past and tend to keep a running list in my head. This usually ends up making me more stressed than not because I am constantly thinking of new items I’m worried about forgetting. Worried about forgetting your phone charger? Make an actual list so that you have to cross it off when you pack it. Check out the app Packing Pro for extra help keeping track of your items. It’s $2.99 but totally worth it if you travel frequently.

2. Plan outfits that you will need with mix and match options

I like to make a list of outfits I will need for each day of my trip and then plan them out accordingly. If I’m bringing a dress and a sweater, I make sure that my sweater also matches with a blouse that I can where with pants. The same goes for shoes. Pack one pair of casual shoes that will work with all of your outfits, one comfortable walking pair, and one dress pair. Make sure everything matches with whatever jewelry you are bringing.

3. Use your shoes for storage

To save space, put any electronic cords or small items in your shoes so that you’re using all the empty spaces wisely.

4. Bring travel size bath products

Your favorite hair products can take up much of your suitcase on your own. I like to get the little travel size bottles from Target or Walgreens and put my own products in them. It’s cheaper than buying the travel size items, and can be refilled.

5. Dryer sheets are your friends

I hate that no matter how fresh-smelling you clothes are, once you stick them in a suitcase they always come out musty. I like to add a few dryer sheets to my clothes to keep them smelling good and hang them up or fold them right away when I get to my destination.

What are some packing tips that you have for short trips?
