Forget the hard work for a delicious breakfast and make it easy with this Cinnamon Roll Cream Cheese Braid
When the holidays roll around I always look forward to the food, especially breakfast. Whenever my family gathers together we always have delicious food. Each Christmas with my dad’s family there is always a biscuit bake off, and my dad always wins. On Christmas day with my family, my mom always makes a delicious breakfast for us, one of the things she makes is a sweet cream cheese braid. It is a fantastic dish, but it is also a bit time consuming to make. I decided that instead of spending all of the time making the dough it would be delicious to use Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls in place of the dough to create this Cinnamon Roll Cream Cheese Braid.
Sweet and savory always makes the perfect breakfast combination in my opinion. Whether it is my everyday breakfast of scrambled eggs and a biscuit with brown sugar, or our Christmas morning breakfast of a quiche, grits and a cream cheese braid the two together equals breakfast perfection. The holidays can be such a busy time with so much food to cook, so I always want to come up with easier recipes, which is where this Cinnamon Roll Cream Cheese Braid enters the picture. It’s the perfect compliment to your savory dish and is simple to make.
Ingredients:
-2 cans Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls
-2 8oz packages of Cream Cheese
-3/4 cups sugar
-2 teaspoons vanilla
-1 egg, beaten
-a pinch of salt
Instructions:
The first thing you do is pop open your can of Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls. You’ll want to take each cinnamon roll and cut it in half like you would a biscuit, so you end up with a top and a bottom.
Press out each piece of the cinnamon roll to make it a little thinner and bit bigger.
Next you will mix together all of the ingredients for the cream cheese mixture. Depending on how big your braid is, you may have extra. I made my braid from 10 cinnamon rolls and definitely would have had enough mixture to double that, so it’s perfect to feed a crowd.
Place the bottom of a cinnamon roll on an un-greased baking sheet and place 1 Tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture onto it.
Next place the top of the cinnamon roll on top and press the edges together to seal it, it’s ok if some of the cream cheese mixture spills out as long as it’s not all of it.
Continue this process and place the cinnamon rolls next to each other pressing them together, I did two rows of 5 cinnamon rolls for mine.
Once you are done bake the Cinnamon Roll Cream Cheese Braid on 400 for 13-15 minutes.
Remove from the oven and drizzle with the cinnamon roll icing while the braid is still hot.
Serve and enjoy this delicious sweet breakfast treat!
